Be Part of the Chain Gang with the Multi-Chain Look

Wearing chains is in style this season. This jewelry trend is being made more popular by the multi chain look. Wearing multiple chains of different lengths can be a unique way to modernize the standard necklace.

Wearing multiple chains can be achieved through multiple styles. Sometimes the necklace wearer will put on two or more separate chains of different lengths to give a layered looks. They will pair together chains of similar or different metals usually at various complimentary lengths.

Doubling or tripling up one long chain can also achieve this look. There are several necklace lengths that work best for this multi chain look. For example, the opera necklace,
which is a lengthy 26 to 36 inches long, can easily be doubled to create a casual multiple chain look. In addition, the rope necklace is typically 37 inches or longer. It can be doubled and even tripled to achieve the trendy layered look. Also, a lariat necklace is 48 inches or longer. This type of chain is usually unattached t the ends to allow the wearer to knot or wrap it in whatever manner suits them.

One of the more popular ways to achieve this modern necklace trend is to wear one necklace that has multiple strands. A chain that has several strands of different lengths across the front is a fun and more comfortable way to achieve the multi chain look.

The multi chain look can also be achieved when multiple chains are used in the front of the piece as decoration. Instead of having several chains go all the way around the neck, this style usually has five or six short chains used as drop embellishments in the center part of the front of the chain.

The multi chain look will often require that the metal chains be accented with colorful beads, charms and other ornaments to brighten up the jewelry. The multiple chain trends can be worn with casual attire, such as jeans and a simple blouse. Or, selecting a more valuable metal and pairing it with elegant evening attire can dress it up.

One of the most popular styles of the multi chain necklace is the two-strand necklace with pendant. Typically the shorter of the two chains is nineteen inches with a three-inch drop pendant. The longer chain is usually twenty-four inches with the same two-inch drop. The pendants are typically made from a stone that is very light reflective.

Another common style of the multiple chain trends is a triple strand choker. This is made up of a choker necklace usually about 18 inches long. The necklace has two shorter connectors in the front to give it a layered look, resembling more than one chain.

A more casual look for the multi chain look can be achieved with chains that are longer and chunkier. For example a thirty-eight inch sterling silver chain with cut out stations is a nice necklace to wrap around multiple times to achieve a modern layered look without too much effort.

As you can see there are several unique ways to achieve the multi chain look. Whether you are draping several separate necklaces together or purchasing one strand that is made to look like three, there is a multiple chain look for everybody. The look can be dressed up or down, worn with practically any type attire and by any age group. The look can be made colorful with embellishments and gemstones, or kept simple with just the metal of the chain. You can purchase necklaces that fit this trend at jewelry stores, online or in catalogs.
